.....whether one bitches in your own name or under Kermitthefrog.......one still gets no where when challenging the PTB......racing is in the hands of those who do not give a fig about joe public and the punters that are being shafted day in and day out.....look at this latest little tiff over bookmaker betting and the rights to use it on air.....the joe soaps are walking around the totes in a daze not knowing what is being backed and what is no good.....:

Who/What do you think is the reason for the latest little tiff.........I don't think it's the PTB...........I'll bet 10 pounds to a pinch of sh!t it's a bookmakers retaliation for an increased cost Tellytrack
The only thing that is for sure ,if you change nothing, nothing changes..........that you can bet on!

Yes someone started it without thinking of the consequences.......this industry needs to work together but the school boy tit for tat will land us up in bigger problems.......book making establishments are closing down tote terminals on a monthly basis supplementing them with inexpensive software , levies and2nd hand terminals are taking tote type bets without keeping book and not even deducting tax on winnings.......we see very little of bookmaking tax and levies making it back into the stakes pools.......a recipe for disaster .....:

Muhti,I am so with you on that........and that is what is so exasperating ........it seems so obvious to everybody except the PTB!!!!
I came from an industry that failed to manage or regulate itself so the inevitable happened..........government intervention and downright idiotic over regulation by people who haven't a clue..............I can see the same thing coming for the racing industry!

If you not a owner, breeder, trainer, groom ,farrier, jockey etc why are you ppl stressing
about phum and gc?
Sour grapes cos u never got onto the shares?boredom?upset cos u could
have would have?
Rob im intrigued about yr obsession with proving the operators wrong,if you
just a punter why do you expect a listed co. to answer to you if you not
a shareholder?
Just asking
about phum and gc?

I am only concerned about the operators management of the local product..........check the financials.........it is presently a loss leader.
Listed companies have a habit of maximising profitable areas and eliminating losses ........do you see the danger?
I am told that P's Exco are less and less focussed on local racing ,and even if "P" gave it back to stakeholders(as opposed to shareholders) right now it would be with a hugely reduced asset value...........and getting less all the time!
"P" is,and will probably will remain, successful but our concern here is surely the health of local racing. It's survival is presently on the back of soccer pools?
The local turnovers would seem to be adequate even now and the problem appears to be the expense ratio.
Perhaps you are qualified to explain why we should be relaxed.I don't know who you are or what you do but I find the question interesting coming from you as your posts don't tend to be optimistic when discussing local racing........unless its just the time of night?
(I think Umlilo will confirm that the transfer of licences to "P" was based on promises of a better managed local industry.........which is why they may be answerable to all of us.)

All good-you made me sit back and wonder what it is we are trying to achieve-and for now it's to get the management bar raised a little!

that's what I feel too - not everything is bad but some things(VERY IMPORTANT) like taking money from punters in Tabs are essential to the stability of local racing - First get the basics right before trying to grow the product
