I do understand Englander but I am sure you have read and posted more than me and you will have seen when someone say like me is had a go at and told I am talking sh!t by a pseudonym who is blatantly wrong. Some use the word opinion to justify their statement but opinion must also have some truth in it. It does not paint a very nice picture for other people in the industry and make them feel like they want to join and be part of ABC . Why should they open themselves up to abuse from people hiding behind pseudonyms. To me if you are going to tell someone they are talking sh!t then have the bal.s to put your name there. There are many with whom I will engage with who use pseudonyms as they don't abuse the anonymity but I would like to get rid of those who hide behind their pseudonyms and talk rubbish and abuse other posters. That is my main reason for wanting a separate forum with nothing hidden from that forums posters. Anyway only my opinion!:D

Bob, I look forward to the forum and agree with Craig, Hilton and Rob - real names or dont participate. I believe that in time, we will see a good growth in postings from new people from all walks in Racing.

It would be great if every Poster identifies himself on a sticky post and if the goal of the forum was good debate rather than personal insults.

There are many huge issues right now which are enfolding in Racing. I am just not inclined to open these for discussion, due to those who are, honestly, just not up to speed on the bigger picture and are hiding away behind a screen, waiting to insult someone.

Healthy debate will be brilliant. Take Pirates, for example. On many issues, him and I will vehemently dissagree. But in the end, I know who he is and vice versa. Our dissagreements have never lessened my respect for him and his immense Racing knowlege. I would rather be opposed by someone with a name and with obvious intelligence than some nameless chap, who may not even know what a horse looks like.

1) names and Racing connection/position/status
2) aim is debating Racing issues only
3) posters, even when named, who post ridiculous stuff or insult etc are banned.

I think you will be onto a huge thing here, Bob.

Yup Craig, I have seen that and supported you as I thought the attack unfair, certainly in the way it was being done (if I remember rightly I couldn't comment on the facts because I did not know them). But, I just can't see what difference it makes to you or anyone else if I slate you and my name is Mr Englander or Mr John Bishop and I am a professional gigolo B)- Apart from if you don't like what I say you will ignore me because I am not part of the industry, which I also struggle with but hey, I struggle full stop lol :S I only think it will make a difference if it is someone else in the industry and if that is the case then I can only see it leading to bad blood which would be bad for all concerned. I think we will continue to sit on opposite sides of the fence on this one Craig but, as I have said, if people want a separate room by all means go ahead and set it up, I will be interested to see how much difference it makes and I can sit back, relax and see life as a "leech" for a change >:D

Agree 100000% with LG and Craig...as for defamatory posts I am sure that once it is established for sure who is behind the posts then those will be very few and far between, and the forum can only grow from strength to strength, Andy says he would gladly contribute to a forum with those conditions as well as numerous others who are keen to be a part of it....a huge win/win for all concerned..

Englander, I don't mind not knowing you as you do not have a real go at posters unless in a friendly way and I am sure that if I sent you a pm you would send me a number and I could talk to you but there are many(unlike you) who post insults and know very little about racing and the last thing they would do was want to be known to everyone for how stupid they were. Maybe we should make that if Bob and Dave think the poster was wrong and completely out of order, they could make his name known to the offended person!(tu);) Loius G is right, If we could just have healthy debates with people who understand racing and even better if they knew horses well, we could make a difference.

Craig, don't get me wrong for a second, it is not that I am opposed to the idea. II have said, if people want to do it then go do it :) And it is for the betterment of racing then great. Personally, I really don't see the big difference, it is always the message not the name that is important. Maybe some are expecting a much firmer "policing" of this new forum which to me again would seem strange, why police it more so than the current forum? It will exclude certain people but such is life.

But, if, in my ignorance, I see anything on the new forum I want to ask about on the current forum, will people be happy to repeat and explain on that thread too or will we be deemed unworthy? (:P)

The new look forum would largely prevent that happening in the first place...prevention better than cure..

Lots of to and fro - I'm with Englander - surely hibs is aware of every poster's identity, so if you feel that someone insults you, get his details from hibs and have it out with the guy (or gal) I can't understand why anyone could be 'afraid' of being 'insulted' - hell take it from whence it comes.

Imo it is far more important to put those 'many huge issues' on the table - and if a few insults from those uneducated hillbillies surface, so what - at least everybody would be aware of these 'many huge issues' - instead of rumours abounding ?

I think that sometimes 'those in the know' underestimate the knowledge (intelligence?) of those not part of the 'inner circle' so there seems to be an attitude of 'they are not important / knowledgable enough to be informed, so bugger them'.

So with the greatest of respect to all those with alternative views, I really don't think that posting under one's real name would lead to significantly more people in the 'industry' posting - but maybe hibs can introduce this 'exclusive' forum for a trial period just to see what happens?

Guys (Craig and Louis included)

This idea is NOT new, it has happened before with a forum with everyone knowing who is who.

END result

Ian Jayes
Brett Masselle
Steve Reid
Charl Pretorius

ALL laughed at, dismissed with contempt, charged with bringing racing into disrepute, slung out of racing.

Come on lets not mince our words here, the people "asking" for real names have too much power already and NEED to be challenged on certain matters BUT lets not for once think this will be a 2 way street. This will only serve for them to eliminate even more

LUNATICS from The FRINGE

Engaging with "the peers" is IMPOSSIBLE for the mahority of people on here. Emails and letters go unanswered, calls not taken. So frankly i reserve the right to say what i want. If this needs looking at then Hibs can tell them who i am.

I must though warn that my computer is always ON and my office does not have a lock, so some posts might not be from me....
