If I was a Jock who rode for a huge owner and was told to retract my statement and "take the rap" Im pretty sure I would as well
Give everything but up!

Wow just wasted 30 minutes of my life reading people repeat themselves. Maybe the problem is people on ABC think they bigger than the game. If nothing what I have learnt in my time here is there are a lot of people who speak from their pockets and quick to down grade anything at the drop of a hat.
I cannot believe MJ is being lambasted for this. Rides a perfect race after telling the public will be surprised to not see in top 3. I lost as well as I was on Fourie who had to check twice before a clear run otherwise I still maintain he would have won.
Bottom line is too many people think they in the know, and when they lose look to blame everyone else except themselves.

My 2 cents worth. In all my dealings with MJ he has been straight down the line. He rode many horses for us when I was with Alistair. His original comment was absolutely spot on when one looks at the result. The first 4 horses past the post were within 1.05 lengths and he won by a head. That horse was very nearly beaten and then his comment about first three would have been absolutely correct. Do we know Derek punted it? Seems as though there is a possibility that he didn't. English is not MJ's first language and maybe his post race comment was not exactly what he meant to say. I cannot be certain but one thing that cannot be changed is that it only just won and if it had got beaten then we would all be saying what a good judge MJ was!

Apologies Pirates, it was not Fourie, but rather Cheyne on Winters Trade that I had backed.

Just my 2 cents for Ruffian. I know of at least 8 bookmakers who will lay you huge strikes of horses, in other words the claims are a joke and everyone knows that. However big punters with established ties such as someone like Brugman perhaps, I'm sure has a number of outlets where he is able to get substantial punts.

I have heard that if you are prepared to tip to Brugmann you will get horses from the clan,if you don't tip to him you can sing for your supper.I wonder if people like jooste and van niekerk know what pressure their racing manager puts the trainers under. He dominates and tries to control the trainers
