The point being missed here is that any comment less than "horse is fit and well and hoping for a good run" is technically a breach of NHA rules.

I am not against transparency but when you have a 14 horse MR handicap and every comment is as above, what have you learned really???

As TML says Neigh.

1. Individual websites
2. An existing website such as Formgrids or ABC or one owned by the racing authorities where there is a page for each race

Probably other options too

Pirates though makes a very valid point when he says that many don't have access to websites. It is therefore important they are easy to print, making option 2 above the more logical solution, so that they can be simply printed off on or two sheets per race and put up on the walls or in flip-folders in bookies etc. And/or, if the comments came before "print" time they could also be displayed in the racing press.

TML, maybe more than 5 minutes bud but certainly not eons :)

Rob, I have learned that I should be able to trust that every horse entered is fit and well and ready to go full on and thus I should be able to trust my judgement regarding the usually displayed form. Any horse that does not run to that then I would expect the stipes to be asking questions. Patterns emerge.

I understand your point regarding rules but we all know that sometimes horses will be in need of a run, have had a setback, or at the other end have been working unusually well etc. Ramsden and Bass and Louis and Craig and the Shams etc will often state this. And/or, change the rule :)

Englanders point here is also important "We are backing horses almost completely blind only, in some cases, to be told way too late that it was a foregone conclusion we were wasting our money. It is that simple. We are simply throwing money away. "

Sorry Englander,You trust that every horse entered is fit and well ,whilst being aware some will have had setbacks and need the run??is that not a contradiction?
My point, and even in this post ,you accept that the regulators role is the key.To believe that everybody will voluntarily do the right thing is like suggesting the world would survive without laws IMO. ;)

Rob, another thing I should mention is how many times AFTER the race do we hear "connections" speak of a change in their approach/tactics which has brought about the remarkable improvement and success? How is anyone supposed to guess BEFORE the race they are going to use a different tactic? It is often this type of comment from those trainers already mentioned which makes me look twice at a horse's form.

Exactly Rob. It is a contradiction. And it is that contradiction I want removed. Currently I have to trust all horses are fit and well and in peak condition even though I doubt very much that they all are.

As I said, change the law. Why can the law not say... an honest assessment of your horse's well-being and any change of tactics etc etc etc blah blah blah must be posted on ZYZ website 24 hours prior to the start of a meeting....?

Rob, just to clarify, I was answering your question "what have I learned" in the first para of mine that you quoted, though what has followed since is still valid I believe

a perfect example of what this thread is about is the horse space launch in race 8 today..he hasn't run for 14 months and is 18 to 10 joint favourite in the LAST LEG OF THE PLACE ACC AND PICK 6...has any tv presenter or journalist asked mr drier for a comment?why didn't grant Knowles ask sean Cormac for a comment after race 3 when he interviewed him if its to much effort to find out before the meeting starts
