Re: so wheres the sectional timing ?????????
9 years 9 months agobob bar a few of our jockeys the majority have no idea about pace so it it vitally important for their careers to get it installed ..why do you think the jocks that have overseas stints and come back here they ride their fellow jocks to sleep because they learn a bout pace ..fourie striker Cormac schofield marwing to name a few ...if they haven't got the funds will have the decncy of telling the public about it don't let it just drift away...this thread tells you all the testing has been done blah blah well whats the update or do we get the normal operator treatment such as treat them like mushrooms feed them shit and keep them in the dark..remember bob we are an important part of the wheel us punters but the larneys iv had contact with at both operators agree but you walk out the door with promises galore AND FCUKAL GETS DONE.,soon I will mention my experiences with those people and I challenge them to replyBob Brogan wrote: I want it , you want it and a "few hundred " others want it

If you cannot trust the management of the industry is it any wonder that the industry is not trusted ,by the public ,as a whole!

Another perfect example of how sectional timing is an absolute must in this industry. The commentator in the 5th Turffontein announces for the world to hear that they are going to turn it into a "sprint" turning for home......
I guess he had no way of knowing that the front horses went way too fast early on and that the back horses were the ones who filled the 1st 4 places, no sprint there, the back horses conserved energy off the fast pace while the front horses went too quickly.
Really, no way for him to know definitively unless there is sectional timing......

They have the timing chips in the number cloths at all our race meetings at the moment and have had for awhile. They are taken out after each race. I am sure that they just doing extensive testing so that when it kicks off there are no glitches.

I can not help but think that this industry is doomed because of poor leadership and more damning, the inflated egos of the rollplayers. I have just read Gareth Peppers article about the usage of barrier trials in Singapore and have to ask how the Jockey Club can not endorse and actively push the industry to implement something that will bring a lot more transparancy to punters particularly where 1st timers and horses returning from layoffs are concerned. The question of funding becomes a moot point when one considers the wastage of money spent on other insignificant events that do very little for the sport. Consider the costs involved in staging the Jockeys challenge over the last few years. It must run into millions and when you see the quality of these jocks in the last 2 to 3 years, who would argue that the money spent could easily have been spent more appropriately by installing the required equipment for barrier trials.
