There is a lot of ' holier than thou' posts here... But we were not there, do not know the context...all shades of gray and two sides to every story.

Magi, when we were at school and growing up it was time to behave in a schoolboy fashion, sure some people deserve a klap now and then but not on the racecourse and certainly not from an office holder and board member who should lead by example, many people without reward or reimbursement and myself in particular have devoted much time effort and money into rebuilding the game, what kind of a message does this Klap send around and if the right action is not taken then who on earth is going to obey the rules afterwards, then its back to fighting on the course again and how can you punish offenders if you set a bad precedent ? Larry used to moan with great disgust about the "lebs" behavior at the course, also remember Larry himself once called for certain people to be thrown out of racing for much less, now he must man up and do the right thing, racing is bigger than any one man, any one who sides with him is thinking of the man and not the game so why then do the rest of us sacrifice so much for racing's well being

I was told today by a mate of mine that Larry will not be charged. Larry was apparently severely provoked and from the sounds of things it was not unreasonable that he defended himself. Whilst I do not condone violence I have to say if Larry was forced to defend himself from physical harm then surely this is acceptable?

Can we look at this from a reliable witness that does not want to be named, as to his version.

Yes something was said - Yes they had words (Part 1) and were in each others faces with fingers flying.

It was broken up by a 3rd party and the Punter then turned to walk away , Larry then Kicked him on the Ass to be blunt ( Part 2) - Lets call these parts as self Defense.

The Punter then walked away from where the action initially took place - Larry the ran and gave him a punch ( Part 3)

Security arrived and intervened. ( Part 4)

So my question to you Bob is - if we take it as Part one and Two as self Defense - Does Part 3 not then fall under retaliation by him following the punter and finishing unfinished business? or is that still self defense?

I will stick to my story , even though Bob has not still answered my question Ha Ha

You can not defend the undefinable - Self Defense is one Thing - Being Provoked is another but then so is Retaliation.

For the NHRA to decide that no inquiry is necessary, defeats the entire purpose and objective of an inquiry in the first place. Which is TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED! and in a transparent manner with a full report of the findings to the general public. The perception of this current stink is that it's being swept under an already stinky carpet. The rules should be at their most stringent when applied to those in positions of power. The incident or speculation thereof, has and is continuing to bring racing into disrepute yet no press release no inquiry.

When did they announce that ? I must be way out the loop these days

Well its been a while - No Press Release from anyone - All we heard that an Inquiry was going to take place.

No Date given - No charges Laid - No update and that is not just from the NHRA - What about the week RA - Don't they think they owe it to the owners to have a press release issued as these allegations pertain to their CEO whom they appointed.

This is only going one way.

Lets all keep quite and it will all go away. I personally know that a normal member lodge a complaint - therefore a hearing should take place. I am also aware that the press have written to all parties both SP and an Independent for comment - No comment .

You decide , the other day we were having a drink a group of friends discussing the incident , someone suggested pricing up on the out come .

Betting 5/10 he gets off .

Maybe Hollywood should price up.

The way i read it is the reason side A is delaying is because side A cant move forward with a justifiable defense without getting hold of the complainant first to hear his version and find out how many witnesses he has or if they have phone video footage etc, because if they do an inquiry or anything similar and side A commits and puts together a version of events without knowing how strong side Bs case is and that version is then proved to be not true or any lies involved then all hell will break lose in the media etc,, so to me its 5/10 side B,, as you say chasing after someone and Klapping them can never be seen as self defense

Agree,nothing can be finalized officially until agreement with the other party has been reached_If NHA come to a conclusion that was disproved in a civil or criminal action, the NHA (Full of legal people) would be very embarrassed!

The "Punter" will not come forward as he says he wants to protect himself and his family. The NHRA can not subpoena non member . Catch 22.

So are there no CCTV's where the incident took place ?

I counted 5 cameras that could have captured the footage , the best angle being the footage of Betting world. - Are betting world going to provide footage I dont think so , they dont have to . All of a sudden the recording device will not work.

The two security Guards on Duty that stopped the fight work for the security company and need to protect their jobs. So this is a stale mate.

The only way other way is to subpoena all the owners/ trainers and jockeys in the Parade ring of the 9th and 10th race to gather information. There must be a witness out there.
