I run the risk of sounding like a pessimist or sounding like some on our forum and others, but let’s be honest our posters have put a lot more thought into the various allegations than they have in response to them. This explanation is weak and borders on nonsense and is a bit of an insult to our intelligence. No facts and figures, just lucky numbers. Plenty lucky numbers players throughout the world.

The question I repeat which has not been considered or answered by anyone is why the UK comingling does not affect us as much and as often? The pound is 13/1 Aus $ is 7/1. If I were them I would rather check and release accurate facts rather than release drivel.

I did conscribed military service and one of the first things one is taught is to be A-political. In other words the military will defend whatever government is in power on the day. I am afraid P’s employees are falling into this A-political category in terms of what they spew out in media releases without question. If something does come out in the wash I hope there is a mass falling on swords!

Umlio - Explanations are weak ....I say ....."or just...."

could it be they have a different trading right/agreement to the UK with Aus etc? - what deductions happen before the money is pooled back to SAF, or is it a purely on % of betting taken agreement?

I have spent the night studying the form of the LOTTO numbers for tomorrow's draw - the winning combo(strictly on prior performance and stable well-being) 1,7,8,19,34,17. I'll be buying my Computaform for the roulette wheel later today and will post selections once I've had a chance to study the form of the numbers entered !!(I might be a little slow as the tooth fairy delivers my form guides!!) I have a remarkable strike rate in all casino especially those outside of South Africa where the form book holds up very well.

Don im sure(but not positive) that you can only bet into SAF pools from Betfair? and im sure Betfair will be getting just a standard commission rate?

The only other way they recieve payment from the UK would be through Broadcasting rights from Turf Tv?

Well put Mr H

Imagine if Castle suddenly started tasting like cream soda and SAB turned around and said its because Castle made in the US (not that it is) affects the taste of Castle in SA. Imagine reporting this to anyone and try and make them believe it.

I think I'l just have to change to Windhoek thanks.

Just watched the new adverts on Tellytrack, apologising for the inconvenience of the late avalanche of co-mingling ending with the good news that it increases the pools.
I am sure that is cold comfort to those who received R3.40 a win on a horse that traded at 9/1 and whose SP was 5/1.(race 6 at K'worth)
Those kind of reduced tote dividends were last seen when horses were still coupled for win bets.
Regardless of the causes, the accuracy of the tote punters is uncanny in at least 2 or 3 races a meeting.
How many races are we experiencing where the heavily punted horse loses and a 4/1 shot pays R9 a win( much longer price horses are not a good example as the tote has traditionally been far superior for those anyway.)
The explanation is not even close to making sense of that aspect.
I am not going to waste any further time on this as I only bet on the tote for certain exotics anyway so quite honestly I shouldn't give a damn.
Owners who rely on stakes should be very concerned though!

Rob - you hit the nail on the head.

The only signal comingling sends me as a punter is that PGE is looking to the overseas market for growth. It tells me that the local market is fully exposed and developed and cannot be developed any further.(Quite obvious - very little punter development betting development or product development. Hence opportunities opening in the bookie market.)

Why not Develop and grow at entry level first then you have every right to teach the world how to do things in tote betting. It seems, the reality is that it is the other way round. Develop the overseas comingling market and leave SA punters to their own devices and perhaps they will do enough overseas to walk away from the SA market completely, as a fully globalised betting company.

Surely the point of betting into a pool and being able to influence the price defeats the purpose. Why would someone find value at a certain price they see a few minutes before the off only to see that edge whittled away by influencing that price.

The reason why so many syndicates bet into asian racing pools is that they are able to place large bets without moving the market due to such high liquidity.

I also find it unlikely that someone putting on massive bets wouldnt understand this logic.

This lucky numbers excuse is 1 of the jokes of the year...

That,Sasky,is my point exactly. The one thing successful punters agree on is the aspect of "value".Most seem to measure value as price achieved, relative to SP.(certainly those who post on the overseas forums).
Now my question is the same as yours...why reduce your own value,to as much as half of the SP,with your own bets?
The only explanation that makes sense is that the bookmakers SP price is unavailable! why? Bookmakers betting has closed(on the jump)!Tote still available!....no such thing as bad value on a known result!
I cannot find any other logical reason!
