I agree with Magic 100%, but the plot thickens. What if the the local operators are actually cashing in on this and blaming it on the co-mingling sh*t.
Food for thought!!!

I would be surprised if the amazing proportion of punters on the "right one" race after race are co-minglers...I believe that the late overseas money is a smokescreen for local late bets.
The problem should surely be cleared up by a forensic audit of what bets are coming from where, with enough examples to pick up the patterns that surely exist....rather than that idiotic, uninformed press release by P.
The irony is that P needs this to be a scam that can be stopped! If not,and this is the above board result of co-mingling,racing is stuffed.
If punters stop punting on the tote it will have a similar result to a run on a bank, and that will lead to no stakes, which equals no racing.

This shit should be suspended until a full and independent audit of the commingling process is carried out.

Rob, apparently Phum has come out and said that ''within time the dividends will get better''...this statement confused me even more than the Lucky numbers....Do you have any idea what they mean?

Greg,my response to that hopeful guess by P's spokesmen is simple:If they don't know whats causing the problem, how on earth can they have any view on the solution?
If incoming bets are in similar proportions to the local bets, dividends should remain similar....exchange control is a red herring. If however there is a disproportionate late flurry, from wherever,on the winner, dividends will be as they are now!
It is not the amount of money, but the proportions that determine payouts.

As a matter of interest (and to stir it up a little more) I have been keeping a record of tote payouts vs net SP's for this week, and if you check the Greyville night meeting on Wed 16/12/09 the tote payouts were completely normal and like "the good old days"

The question: Bad time of day for co-minglers or because,as we know, almost all TAB employees work normal office hours only?

Gregbucks- Howz'it. Yes I am finished with all my chores.

Now I can concentrate on racing. Cannot decide whether on the tote or the bookies with all this dubious co-mingling sh*t.

Have you backed your horse for tomorrow. I have taken the double with Pieces of Eight. Got 15/2 on the double

Looks that way Andre. Yesterday, race 9 on the off the winner was paying R 6,70 a win but just after they passed the post the dividend was R 4,90 which approximated the local SP. Damn fine tisters and punters these aussies, wonder how they do it, especially in a race where the tote favourite was from a big stable and was evens having been bet in from 15/10.

it's funny the way we think in RSA..
All over the world we have reports of hackers, hacking into tote systems, credit cards, bank accounts etc..

only in our rainbow nation we believe it does not happen..
its true that the majority of the south african population do nor have the IQ to do hacking, while they do posses the moral values to do that.
the rest of the world is not that dof, perhaps the Aussies are hacking our fool proof system at the tote.
reading the TAB STATEMENT IN THE CAPE TIMES LAST TUESDAY, RE THE WEIRD TOTE PAYOUTS...
they imply that the aussies back lucky numbers, and huge amounts when playing horse on the RSA TOTE.
thats the reason we see huge amounts comming for outsiders and why some horses pay so little after the comingle...
not sure who are the fools, the aussies or the tab people that write such @#$%^&*()
to that TAB...write something that at leats sounds true...

remember the stuff on average IQ "GOOGLE AVERAGE IQ"
eastern region..ie Japanese average 112
american/australian/Europe...........100
african american......................79
africa................................70

the only cominge pools are from singapore (average 112) and australia (average 100) and RSA average (70)...
makes you think who is the ..!@#$%^&*()+
