Co'mon guys we all know what's going on. Horses are pulled and races are manipulated. I had a good horse and the trainer wanted to pull the horse because price was too short. I finally decided to race for stakes and horse won easily.Titch, this is a fact.

Well all I can say is this...many Jocks come up to our box after a big raceday..every single one is a highly professional, well mannered, knowledgeable, no funny business guy (and one girl). They proudly show you pics of their kids on their cell phones, etc. In fact I don't even think that one of them has even had a beer..they watch their weight and socialize in the most upstanding way. I would be very very shocked if any of them knowingly "pulled up" a horse..in fact even though I bet very small, I would place a large bet that they don't.

@ Oscar,
Maybe I should clarify ,and others more knowledgable than me, could explain the term "pull up a horse". I have been in discussions where instructions were given for a horse to be given an easy ride for various reasons. One main thing is to bring a horse's merit rating down for that specific horse to become competitive from a lower merit rating. Is that "pulling" a horse? The other one is to give a horse an easy ride after a rest as not all trainers give a grass gallop after a rest to test the level of fitness.

Not giving a horse every chance of winning for any reason what so ever is in fact pulling it up...the reason that there is no big sling off by the pocket mongers about those is simply because they are usually not in the betting which in fact is a load of BS...

These kind of discussions would hardly exist if measured and strong regulation was in place..............racing needs to be trusted!

I never said that punting on horse racing is easy, in fact any form of gambling has the risk factor some more than others...the term punters are mugs is not only userd in referance to horse racing, ever heard of any Casino players being referred to as geniuses??
You are missing the point Graham which is that every time some punters loose they always cry foul...how often have you heard a punter say "I cant win when this person is at my table" or "I have never had a win when I back with this tote operator" I cant win at this bookmaker etc etc it is endless but what they fail to acknowledge is that the only common denominator in all scenarios is themselves..deflecting the blame for loosing is an age old trait of gamblers which is far more prevalent in horse racing which has unreasonably led to the belief that all racing is crook...

those who regulate are often unfairly criticized by those who don't want to believe that there findings were fair and just..

The newly elected democratic government of Mauritius, led by Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth, has placed a 5 yr ban on all foreign jockeys who have competed on the island during the last 5yrs.
This measure, designed to wipe out alleged race fixing provided theMauritius Turf Club with a problem in finding suitable jockeys for the new term, as our new correspondent reports.
Finally the Mauritian Turf Club recently appointed 2 Stipe Stewards from Australia to lead the local panel. In the chair will be Kevin T Williams, who is well known to Mauritian racing fans and who will be supported by former jockey and trainer Tom Carlton who was involved in the recent inquiry into race-fixing in Sydney which lead to disqualification of 2 jockeys .Jockeys riding on the island this season are well aware that Tom and Kevin will not accept any masquerade in Mautitius.
Taken from Progressive Racing 1995. Is Mauritius in AFRICA, anybody?
