PK the weights and draws had already been done for the 13th on Friday and 9 full fields were nominated (162 runners) without the runners from today's card so that has nothing to do with the decision..

Not insinuating anything at all other than you've been around a while and always of mostly seem to defend the operators most of the time. I'm not heartless at all and would agree if horses and people were at risk then cancell . However 2 trainers told a different story so who do YOU believe? Mr Miller was genius ( your words) and is this not Mrs Miller?. Again according to Ziets and Steph they could have raced so are you saying they are heartless as well?

If you've seen the condition of some of the horses running at Flamingo, you will see that they definitely don't race them for the love of the game........it's all about the money! Some of them go down to the start looking like Wally Hayward going up Polly Shorts in his last Comrades!

I consider anyone who would risk the well being of horses heartless....anyone.
I do defend the operator often but never once simply for the sake of defending them,I air my views and as the racing industry has been a huge part of my life and remains that way, when it is attacked unfairly then i will respond and state my opinion...

Both completely offside is my opinion...
To have raced today would only have lead to a catastrophe, no possible way that the course could have handled all 10 races which would have left the punter once again in the dwang and almost definitely horses injured it would also have only have served to eliminate any minuscule chance we have of racing tomorrow..

Just another sign of an industry in the last throes of it death here in SA.

This industry will be 25% of its current size in 5 years time.

gone will be most of Gauteng/KZN/NC

Left will be the WC and EC

racing maybe 3-4 days a week.

Around 3:30 - 4 another 10mm of rain fell at the track and whilst this does vindicate the track managers decision to abandon today's meeting beyond any sensible argument it also makes the chances of racing tomorrow very very slim...I have requested some updated pics of the track and will post if I receive them..btw the rain fell at roughly the time the 7th race was due off which strengthens the argument that we would not have got through the card today and the slim chance that we have of racing tomorrow would have been a guaranteed no go...
