Sentinel was beaten over 2000m by force ten in the Champ. stakes....did not stay beyond a mile.
Much more interesting for me,is, he was same age as In Full Flight and never beat him over any distance(dead heat in Cape guineas?)
Elevation, also same age ,also never beat IFF!
IFF beat them both by over 5 lgths,in Bull Brand Stakes,at level weights.

I can't recall anybody riding the card in SA, a la Frankie Dettori. I'm not sure what the most in a day is but I think Piere Strydom for one has ridden 7 winners on a card. I'm not sure, though.

Wots biggest winning distance?

Pedometer won a big feature race at Turfontein by 22 lengths. Must have thought he was being chased by lions or something!

I remember a horse winning at Scottsville in about 1980 by 24.25 lengths, in a sprint (maiden juvenile plate) no less. I think her name was Come Running, or something similarly appropriate, and she was ridden by Grant Kotzen and trained by Hennie Schoeman. I don't think one of the horses that she beat ever won a race.

Which southern africa jockey - give you a clue - Rhodesia & S.A. had the longest winning streak of winners in a row.

the # of winners was 12

made up of possibly riding the last 3 on the card, the next meeting all 7 on the card, followed by the next 2 the 3rd meeting.

Magic this should just be up your street !

Magic, answer is Piet Stroebel who I think rode those winners in both Borrowdale & Ascot in Bulawayo.

My mother's 2nd marriage was to Jerry Stroebel, brother of Piet Stroebel - & that in a nutshell explains how I got involved into racing, all those years ago. I bumped into Ronny Sheehan at the sales last Friday - who was also ex Bulawayo, it brings back fond memories - Ronnie & Jackie, at the O's & Trainers bar after Sunday racing at Ascot. sadly that race course has closed down years ago - it wasn't SOLD, I think just closed down due to lack of runners / trainers.
