Having a bet that allows one to back a horse to lose ? How can the racing authorities or anyone else be surprised when moves are pulled !!

Chrism,it has been happening for years,but only the bookies did it.Many bookies also lay horses for "customers"(and some for themselves of course) and nobody is the wiser.
With exchanges the betting patterns are transparent and are reported to the relevant authorities.......how do you think this lot were caught?
Goodness knows what the NHA will do with any info,of this nature,when exchanges are legalised here!

I honestly think that we should change the title of this thread to "Bookies control racing". firstly who does the pricing up of the betting in a race,and secondly who has the most to lose(financially) when a horse is backed down.Just take a look at the pakistani cricket saga,who was behind it all ?" a bookie"

Well done to the BHA, I hope the NHRA could be as effective as the BHA in stamping
out corrupt jocks in S.A.

Chrism,cos they are not licenced here.We were also 20 years behind,getting TV!
The latest gambling review has recomended them and one of the reasons cited is the greater transparency of betting patterns,and we will have them soon.

@Zackpack
Forget about jocks putting their lives in jeopardy( they are well paid for the work they do), I travel by mini bus taxi to the Tote & I put my life in jeopardy by travelling in these taxis.

Sometimes I back horses ridden by palookas & I express my views on the race,jock etc.
Racing needs punters and it's foolish of you to suggest that punters that have lost on horses & sometimes complain, should get out of the game. It is estimate by some racing experts that less than 2% of punters make a profit from punting horses. In other words you would like the other 98% of the losers to get out of racing if they complain about racing. You are naïve.;)

Greg Fairley deserves some sort of Self Destruction Award. He had a good thing going with Mark Johnston not long ago, which is the sort of job that can make a jockey a championship contender. Just ask Sylvestre de Sousa.
