You are correct... it is not all horses that are pulled... it's those that are punted the most... whereby the bookies have the most to loss
Things have not changed, imo jockeys still get their instructions to pull horse.

You are correct... it is not all horses that are pulled... it's those that are punted the most... whereby the bookies have the most to loss
Things have not changed, imo jockeys still get their instructions to pull horse.

Let's be honest though if racing was as predicable as F1 in the Schumacher era would anyone punt? Fixed or not it is results that are unexpected that make us punt

Maurition racing was the most corrupt racing in the world.Jockeys were only allowed to ride in Mauritius by invitation from goverment.Jockeys loved racing there because you were gaurenteed thousands of rands that somehow made it out the country into your acc.You had to toe the line otherwise bad things could happen to you.Racing was really controlled by powerfull individuals.Things have changed there nowdays for the beter

In Mauritius they have special police task force that deals bribery and corruption in horse racing...jocks are petrified of pulling back horses....they have the police on-course seeking information on corruption...crooked bookies are being investigated and arrested.

Last weekend i backed a horse named sunningdale and this is exactly how the horse was ridden. i'm still convinced this horse is a handicap certainty and am hoping to back it again next time if placed properly. gues who rode the horse....

Jockey Freddie Macaskill was shot, South African police are investigating allegations of racketeering in the nation's horse racing and betting industries. Macaskill was shot on his doorstep just before dawn in Table View, Cape Town.
Apparently, Macaskill did not want to be part of race fixing.

The NHA confirms that at an Inquiry held in Port Elizabeth on 18 March 2010, Jockey Venter was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.25 in that he acted in an improper manner by threatening Apprentice Anthony Andrews in the vicinity of the winners enclosure and in the weighing room at the Arlington Racecourse, after the running of Race 3 on 26 February 2010

FORMER champion Andrew Fortune has been suspended for a month for "failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race".
The National Horseracing Authority inquiry board imposed the original penalty, ruling that he had lost third place on 9-2 chance African Love in a maiden at Turffontein on September 4 by dropping his hands three strides before the line. They also fined him R30,000

Marcus was fined a whopping R50,000 for riding the horse Gold on Gold in an incompetent and unprofessional manner by relaxing for one stride before the finishing post. The event took place during Race 5 at Turfontein on December 27. R20,000 of the fine could be suspended if the jockey does not commit a similar contravention over the period of the next year. While Marcus initially pleaded guilty, he may still appeal the decision.
This horse lost by a nostril. How clean is this sport?
