Tero.
Jockeys have never and will never control racing. This is a myth, unfortunately they are the last cog of the wheel and get blamed for everything. What is not a myth is racing is not clean

Illegal betting and bookmarking are in focus

Police are still on the look out for illegal bookmakers, especially with the start of the racing season at Champ de Mars. The officers of the Anti Piracy Unit and Games Police are currently investigating three suspected bookmakers for taking illegal bets.

This follows the arrest of Mohammad Ismael on April 2. He was caught with about Rs 156,000 and around 8,000 euros. The suspect is alleged to have accepted these bets on horse races without a license by the authorities concerned to carry out this activity legally.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect tried to swallow a paper which he had in his possession. The officers only managed to seize a piece of the paper. The investigators believe that it contained the names of the players, the amounts wagered and the telephone numbers.

Subsequently, the cell phone of the alleged illegal bookmaker was requisitioned and the police will use a judge’s order before proceeding to the decryption of the calls. The possibility that his bank account will be examined is not excluded. During his interrogation at the Line Barracks on Tuesday, Ismael confessed that he had taken money from three bookmakers operating at the Champ de Mars.

The unit is called police de jeux , so instead of roflyao do some research george

Wherever there's money to be made there will always be those who cheat. It's grossly unfair to suggest that racing is the primary source of crookery and shady dealings. I've been told by people with much more business experience than me that some of the things that go on in the corporate world make racing look like a kiddies' party, and I believe it simply because it makes perfect sense.

Jockeys always get the blame for the very good reason that ultimately they are the only human participants in this sport who actually contest races. Everyone else is ultimately a spectator. In that sense they do "control" racing, and of course there are times when they get up to no good, but to imply that they alone are responsible for whatever nonsense goes on in racing is unfair. It is even more unfair and quite frankly ridiculous to suggest that every ride that you think looked slightly odd must have been crook. Sometimes a mistake made in the split second of a horse race is just that - a mistake, not a deliberate carve-up. Most of us here have never ridden in a race and to suggest that we are the ultimate experts on something which we haven't attempted ourselves is downright daft.
